College football betting lines are beginning to surface as the season is about to get underway in the coming months. For handicappers looking for the best bet on NCAA football, here are five teams that top the AP polls heading into the 2010 season.
- Alabama Crimson Tide – Across the board in every sports magazine and website, the Crimson Tide are number one in the nation. Who could be better? Practically the entire team is back from a season ago and only looks to be getting stronger. Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram and quarterback Greg McElroy lead one of the most dominant college football teams in the history of the NCAA.
- Texas Longhorns – Garrett Gilbert leads the longhorn attack after star quarterback Colt McCoy and wide out Jordan Shipley left for Cleveland and Cincinnati in the NFL draft this past June. After losing several other seniors, questions surround the Longhorns. Nevertheless this is Texas after all and they should be in the top five without a question.
- Ohio State Buckeyes – The lone Big 10 team in the top five is led by the returning Terrell Pryor. We love how the Buckeyes operate on defense, however Pryor has yet to strut his star level talent. If Pryor can fulfill his destiny to become a combination of Michael Vick and Vince Young, we see him not only possibly leading the Buckeyes to a national title, but perhaps becoming a dominant NFL pivot.
- Boise State Broncos – Quarterback Kellen Moore leads the charge for the up and coming Broncos. Look for them to move up to number three in the country if Texas struggles out of the gate.
- Florida Gators – Coming in after the most prolific quarterback of this decade leaves for professional ball is no easy task. After being Tim Tebow’s backup for the last two years, Brantley should be ready to lead the charge for the Gators. One should know that Brantley’s style is a complete 180 to Tebow’s meaning to say, this could be an off year or just another year for the Gators.
