Recently UFC betting has taken the online wagering world by storm. For fans new to betting on the MMA here are three things you should consider before placing a bet on your favorite fighters.
- Consider History – Before placing a wager on anything let alone MMA, it is important to look at each participant’s background. For instance, many fighters have high wins and low loss records, yet you should always consider who this guy has defeated. In some cases you will see a guy like Fedor who has defeated several UFC Champions fight a guy like Kimbo Slice who used to pay guys to take his punches. If these two fighters ever actually met, the 31 and one Fedor would likely devour Kimbo as he is the better fighter given the level of competition. However, many fighters that aren’t as well known can also hold their own. So keep the little guy in mind when making your bet after looking at the history of their competition.
- Review Styles – Many MMA handicappers, base their systems off of a fighter’s specific style. Consider both fighter’s styles, before making a commitment to one side or the other. Similar to reviewing the history of a fighter, the style a fighter uses can be the difference maker between winning your bet and losing it. For example, some fighters are better at the submissions then they are at standup. However, they may also be able to defeat stand up guys by getting them off their feet. Consider which styles go well against each other when predicting a winner.
- One Good Punch Can Ruin Your Bet – Whether you are in your mid 20s or mid 40s, one good punch can end your night. Some of the best UFC fighters are in their mid 30s and early 40s, yet they are occasionally knocked out by a younger fighter. The best example of this was during the Rich Franklin vs. Chuck Liddell fight back in June. Liddell was the favorite and more experienced of the two, yet one right hook and it was Franklin winning by knockout.
